Buyer’s Tax Credit is over but there are more Tax Credits to take advantage of

by elizabetheugenio on May 25, 2010

The $8,000 buyer’s tax credit is over, but were you aware you can take advantage of Federal Tax Credits for energy efficient products you install in your home?  You can get a credit of 30% of the cost you spend up to $1,500. The $1,500 tax credit is the maximum amount you can receive for 2 years, even if multiple products are purchased.

The EPA is giving the credit to save energy cost while reducing gas emissions.  According to the EPA, if all audio video (AV) products sold in the United States met the Energy Star requirements, America would save more than $1billion in energy costs.

What products qualify? To earn the Energy Star label, the AV products must consume less power when they are on and must power down during inactivity. The credit applies to products used in your principal residence but new construction and rentals do not qualify.

Additional information on qualified Energy Star products can be found at: http://www.energystar.gov/av.
